Introduction

I try to bundle all my interests here and write about the things I learn and think about. I'm mostly interested in biology, artificial intelligence, and good stories.

I live in Germany, studied biochemistry, and worked as a scientist in academia and the pharma industry. These days I work as an Applied AI Research Engineer at an IT consulting company.

Newsletters

I deal with the information overload in biology and AI by publishing weekly newsletters. They're almost entirely written by AI: I curate what goes in, tweak things here and there, and try to read as many of the original sources as I can to catch mistakes. I also spend real effort on building good, intuitive diagrams to make concepts easier to grasp.

I've noticed that these days I read a lot but less and less sticks, so I add some friction on purpose: each issue ends with a set of exercises to test my understanding. The goal isn't just to inform but to actually learn and retain something.

Clinical Trials

If someone you love is suffering from a disease, or is likely to face one someday, you've probably wondered whether anyone, anywhere, is working on a cure, or at least on lessening the suffering. That's why I maintain a clinical trials dashboard on this page, visualizing which medications are currently in trials for the major diseases of our time. I hope it gives you the same sense of optimism about the future that it gives me. (This isn't medical advice.)

Bioinformatics Research

I also want to add something productive to the world, so I've started doing my own bioinformatics research. It feels like the perfect moment for independent research: coding agents for $20/month, high-end GPUs, and large-scale cloud storage all available for a few dollars. I'll be fully transparent about how it goes.

Writing

I'm interested in the stories life writes on its own: the moments where you zoom in or out on a situation and suddenly notice how unlikely, bizarre, or funny it is. I like to capture these in my blog.
